Cannabidiol

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940 and initially thought not to have medical or therapeutic properties.

It is 1 of 113 identified cannabinoids in the Hemp plant and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.

Clinical studies on Cannabidiol  have shown to help people with a wide range of conditions, including anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain.

How does it work?

Cannabidiol has antipsychotic effects. The exact cause for these effects is not clear, but cannabidiol seems to prevent the breakdown of a chemical in the brain that affects pain, mood, and mental function.

Preventing the breakdown of this chemical and increasing its levels in the blood seems to reduce psychotic symptoms associated with conditions such as schizophrenia.

Research has also shown Cannabidiol to block the psychoactive effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and has been known to reduce pain and anxiety.
